If splitting ways breaks relations, well, a) that's an editor problem, and b) I've already been breaking those left and right from splitting ways to improve accuracy of lane information.
I don't see how it would break the *ability* to model anything, however. Given the above, I don't see how it could be meaningfully *harmful*.
