so you want to tag the vegetation? Because both, common and village green are mostly about (permissive) access and or usage rights, and ownership (in my perception).
You talk about core definition, but these tags are heavily misused for "urban green", so we search for better tagging for these places to migrate - be it landuse, landcover or both.
