I've learned that in some countries each junction has a name/ref and that these are used for navigation.
At small junctions you may just find a node with a name tag, but at larger junctions or roundabouts I see all kinds of "tricks" to place an object with a name. I'd suggest to use a node tagged place=junction with name=* or ref=* for this. What do you think? Gerd
