C'mon folks. Temperatures are always measured in degrees, hence it is completely unnecessary to include this hard-to-type symbol in the value. We know if it's a temperature, the value will be a certain number of degrees. As for regional differences, let's not go there. The metric system is the one to use, always. I'm an American and curse the anachronistic Avoirdupois measurement system every time I use it. Is 15/32 of an inch longer or shorter than 31/64 of an inch? There are 32 ounces in a quart. But does it weigh 32 ounces? No. Fluid ounces and weight ounces are quite different. Grrrr...
Celsius is the default. If you must use Fahrenheit, add an F character (not symbol) to the value.
