Hi all,

What do guys think of using branch=* to specify the particular branch
or outlet of a chain of stores/amenities?

Here in the Philippines, the branch name is quite important to note
for banks because bank accounts are tied to a specific branch and you
need to interact with that branch for a bank account in order to avoid
inter-branch charges.

We are already using this tag to mark the branch name for banks,
restaurants, and other POIs:

Outside the Philippines, it seems that this usage of branch=* is also
adopted by some mappers. Some examples:

1. A Barclay's bank in England:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/node/253409198
2. A Waitrose supermarket in England:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/34520881
3. A Vodafone store in England:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/node/638868816
4. A Tesco supermarket in England:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/node/298706621
5. A KFC store in Australia: http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/49553998
6. A Приватбанк bank in the Ukraine:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/83925848
7. A Сбербанк России bank in Russia:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/node/618791144

However, there's a (somewhat) conflicting usage of branch=* tag and
this is used to mark the branch of a London Underground line. Example:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/43189167

What do you guys think?

Eugene
