[Tagging] bridge=aqueduct mapped as polygon riverbank?

Hi

Does anyone have an example of a bridge=aqueduct/yes that's been mapped 
as polygon riverbank to give width to the waterway?

How do the renderers know which direction the bridge is spanning?
