A relation between a house number and it's street is not a category. If you don't understand that, we cannot help you. When we use an associatedStreet relation, the node or building just carries a tag addr:housenumber=xx, nothing else. There is no exclusive relation here. And even if you add the add:street, nothing says in which town. You can just speculate that the nearest highway with the exact same name is the related street. And what happens if the name is not exactly the same ? That's why some contributors prefer the relation.
