It's probably also safe to assume that you can't freely do so in large
cities. The centre of Melbourne basically only allows parking in
defined spaces. True, many streets have parking spaces on them, but
it's far from "park anywhere on any street".

So far, I've occasionally mapped the entire street as a car park, if
there are a lot of spaces. If modelling smaller numbers of spaces, do
you do them individually (nodes) or as areas? Hmm..
