Following the creation of the new git source repository (thanks Petter!), I have merged my collection of patches, fixes and changelog with the new repo. My changes are in the "beta" branch.
Since the top-level Makefile was originally set up to work with Subversion it no longer worked in the git environment. I have pushed a small fix so "make dist" will once again create tarballs. (Once again, this is in the beta branch.) If anyone has time over the next couple of weeks, I'd like to have a second set of eyes test my changes. I'm going to test the "beta" branch on a couple of machines and, if all goes well, then I'll merge it into git's "master" branch around the end of the month. (Assuming no one objects or finds a flaw in the beta code.) Jesse
