I'd like to discuss the future of SymPy's usage of Gitter. As far as I
know, no core developers use Gitter nor have they used it in a while. I
used to use it a lot but I basically stopped looking at it several years
ago. From what I've seen, for a while, it's mostly just been people asking
questions, but no one has been on there who is actually able to answer
them.

Is there anyone who is actually actively using the SymPy Gitter channel?

Here is the sympy/sympy room
https://app.gitter.im/#/room/!WQmxFDGngPrpECxZFn:matrix.org. They recently
completely migrated everything over to Matrix.

My suggestion would be to stop using Gitter, that is, remove links to it
from our webpage and docs, and add a pinned message to the channel that it
is no longer being used. Support questions should go to the mailing list or
GitHub discussions, or StackOverflow.

Are there any objections to this?
