Brian,. Thanks a lot for the suggestions. Actually I was trying to work with creation and annihilation operators. However I don't just want the end result but also step by step substitution of commutation relation and simplification of the resulting expression for pedagogical purpose (preferably with latex output). I managed to do a dirty hack using sage's FreeAlgebra objects and string manipulation.
