As a Xiphos user, is there anything I can do to update my Xiphos to use https? It seems to default to ftp.
If you go to Edit > Module Manager > Module Sources > Add/Remove > Current Remote Sources > Add and use the following details
Caption: eBible.org HTTPS Type: HTTPS Host: ebible.org Directory: /sword User: (leave blank) Password: (leave blank)Then click Refresh on that page, you should now have the eBible.org HTTPS source added. Do the usual to access it as you would any other Xiphos module source.
I don't think there's an easy way to change all of the sources to HTTPS, they must be added individually. I've opened a GitHub issue (https://github.com/crosswire/xiphos/issues/1214) for this, updates will be posted there and likely on the xiphos-devel mailing list too.
