Over what kind of network are you attempting the sync (mobile, wifi)?
What version of SWORD are you running?
Have you compiled with libcurl or are you using the internal ftp transport?

In the past this used to work. I am not sure when it stopped working,
just that it does not work now.
If there were a work-around or solution to this, that would be great.
