Hi Tobias. Sure. If you turn off the Footnotes option filter during a search, 
you should see results without footnotes hits. In the frontends I write, I will 
often keep a display SWMgr and a search SWMgr around configured accordingly.

Also, I believe an indexed search is configured to not include footnotes. If 
you are compiling with clucene support you can use the mkfastmod utility to 
build the indexes or have a look in its source for the methods to call from 
within your app.
