Hi there ! >>> - The morphology code is actually packard (the version 2.5 told it was >>> packard, but it looked more like Robinson). >>This is very interresting because I can read the morph on xiphos. Maybe you >>find why....
The Sword engine gives results for both Robinson and Packard, but I realised several of them look wrong with Packard, whereas they were more probably correct when using Robinson. By example: Gen1.1 (v1.5) <w morph="packard:V-AAI-3S">εποιησεν</w> https://www.verbix.com/webverbix/go.php?D1=206&T1=%CF%80%CE%BF%CE%B9%CE%AD%CF%89 That looks like an active aorist indicative 3p singular. If i ask what it is with Packard, i get a pluperfect passive 3 singular (i guess that should be επεποίητο) diatheke -b Packard -f PLAIN -k V-AAI-3S : Part of speech: verb Tense: pluperfect Voice: passive Person: third Number: singular But i get the right answer with Robinson: diatheke -b Robinson -f PLAIN -k V-AAI-3S : * Part of Speech *: Verb * Tense *: Aorist * Voice *: Active * Mood *: Indicative * Person *: third * Number *: Singular With LXX v1.7, things seems more correct with packard: <w lemma="lex:ποιεω" morph="packard:VAI+AAI3S" xlit="betacode:E)POI/HSEN">εποιησεν</w> diatheke -b Packard -f PLAIN -k VAI+AAI3S : Part of speech: verb, 1st aorist active, augmented Tense: imperfect Voice: active Mood: indicative Person: third Number: plural (Packard) That looks better, even if I'm not 100% sure about the "augmented Tense: imperfect" (but it could be correct, my greek grammar is very poor). I'm also not sure about the plural Number, but I bet the code should have been VAI+AAI3P if it was really plural. Still, it looks better that what Robison gives: diatheke -b Robinson -f PLAIN -k VAI+AAI3S : * Part of Speech *: Verb * Tense *: no tense stated (adverbial imperative) * Voice *: no voice stated * Mood *: iMperative * Person *: second * Number *: Singular Now, regarding Strong numbers, you said: >> But I notice too, that in the old LXX >> module, greek words had no strong numbers too. That is true for some words, but not all of them. GEN1.2 Here the strong number is missing indeed in the old version. <w lemma="strong:GA-NSM" morph="packard:A-NSM">ακατασκευαστος</w> <w lemma="lex:ἀκατασκεύαστος" savlm="strong:G0 lex:ἀκατασκεύαστος" xlit="betacode:A)KATASKEU/ASTOS">ἀκατασκεύαστος</w> But here it is present: <w lemma="strong:G2018" morph="packard:V-IMI-3S">επεφερετο</w> <w lemma="lex:φέρω,ἐπι" savlm="strong:G0,G0 lex:φέρω,ἐπι" xlit="betacode:E)PEFE/RETO">ἐπεφέρετο</w> GEN1.3 and here too: <w lemma="strong:G2036" morph="packard:V-AAI-3S">ειπεν</w> <w lemma="lex:εἶπον" savlm="strong:G0 lex:εἶπον" xlit="betacode:EI)=PEN">εἶπεν</w> <w lemma="strong:G1096" morph="packard:V-APM-3S">γενηθητω</w> <w lemma="lex:γίγνομαι" savlm="strong:G0 lex:γίγνομαι" xlit="betacode:GENHQH/TW">γενηθήτω</w> <w lemma="strong:G1096" morph="packard:V-AMI-3S">εγενετο</w> <w lemma="lex:γίγνομαι" savlm="strong:G0 lex:γίγνομαι" xlit="betacode:E)GE/NETO">ἐγένετο</w> Is the actual process on how the LXX module is being built documented somewhere ? Like, where is the source info fetched from and what script are applied to end up with a Sword module ? I wonder if the new version "source" text is missing strong number info (in which case there may be a way to get back those information from the old module, in a more or less automated way) or if the script that generates the module is buggy. _______________________________________________ sword-devel mailing list: sword-devel@crosswire.org http://crosswire.org/mailman/listinfo/sword-devel Instructions to unsubscribe/change your settings at above page
