Hello,
I'm using Xiphos 4.0.4 (Webkit/gtk3) with Sword 1.7.4, and have VarApp 1.0
(the NT Manuscript Variant Apparatus) installed.
It consistently shows a sort of 'staircase' effect, as if a superscript
were being applied but never closed. (See attached screenshot for an
example.)
I'm wondering if this is bad markup or a bug, and if it's the latter,
where the bug is.

Using diatheke -b VarApp -f html -k John 3:16, I get the following:

<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html" charset="UTF-8" lang="en"
xml:lang="en"/>John 3:16: <span style="font:"SBL Greek;" lang="grc">: <span
style="font:"SBL Greek;" lang="grc"><div annotateRef="John.3.16"
annotateType="commentary" sID="gen7034" type="section"/> <div sID="gen7035"
type="paragraph"/> υιον] p<hi type="super">66</hi> p<hi type="super">75</hi>
‭א* B W<hi type="super">supp</hi> WH<lb/> υιον αυτου] p<hi type="super">63</hi>
‭א<hi type="super">2</hi> A L T Θ Ψ 083 086 f1 f13 33 Byz it vg syr Didymus
ς<lb/> <div eID="gen7035" type="paragraph"/> <div annotateRef="John.3.16"
annotateType="commentary" eID="gen7034" type="section"/></span><br />
(VarApp)

If I'm reading correctly, the tags are being closed (for example,
<hi type="super">75</hi>), which would suggest that it's a xiphos or webkit
bug.
Is there any sort of further testing that would help?

Thanks,
Isaac Dunham
