At the very least, directory subdivisions per book or even per chapter are in order, to keep inode search times down. All this said... I don't think we've got the tags to support this right now. Something would have to be done to pass tags like img/figure. Generic <a href="..."> tagging will be hard to support, given that module content location varies from system to system and user to user, and the support in img/figure by prepending local absolute path is the main benefit provided there: It allows us to make generic references to the relative root of the module content. Much more thought needs to go into this.
