One benefit of doing that is that the wiki filter is likely to be updated whereas an OSIS export filter is not. On the other hand, you have to make sure that the export filter supports every feature needed. One question is how it would handle biblical references. Just a couple of thoughts.

It was recently suggested that Oo's built-in Wikimedia Export feature
(formerly a plugin) may be of potential interest.

One plus was that it handles footnotes from MS Word documents particularly
well.

It should be relatively simple for an experienced programmer to write a Perl
script to convert the exported format to OSIS XML.

Peter told me he was beginning to explore this. Has any progress been made?

You know, I should update the documentation. With OpenOffice 3 something changed and the filter is no longer usable. I have yet to sit down and try to work out what changed and fix the filter. Sorry about that. Someone else is free to take it from here, but I may not get to it for awhile since I am in the throes of adjusting to PhD studies. As a short term fix perhaps this person could find a copy of version 2.4.

Daniel, in case you are listening, or someone else.

I pointed someone to the OpenOffice plugin to create his own content but he had trouble exporting the module to OSIS. After choosing a folder in the dialog and hitting "OK" a requester says that to this folder can't be written.
The folder is writable so it must be something else.
I just tried it myself and had the same issue with OpenOffice 3.

Any ideas?
