Yes, if Bibledit could support \p, \q1, and osis references, it would
be a great tool. Since you can't preserve paragraphs and linebreaks,
though, it's not very useful (unless you don't have those in your
document). I think in the meantime I will go ahead and work on
usfm2osis.pl. I got notes working well tonight, though I am still
working out how to have $n (footnote number) return to 0 at the
beginning of each book.
I also just tried to compile a module, and it caused a segmentation
fault. I will have to find out what is causing the problems and see if
I can make sure the fundamentals are working well.

SFMToOSIS was developed in close collaboration with a couple of
different Bible societies using the defined mapping between USFM and OSIS.
usfm2osis.pl is based on a one-off tool written specifically for a few
work-for-hire conversions done for ABS. It wasn't originally written for
USFM specifically and lacks support for a lot of USFM markers because at
the time, I was working without the benefit of any USFM documentation.

I may try my (inexperienced) hand at augmenting usfm2osis.pl.
By all means, if you can improve usfm2osis.pl, that would be welcomed. I
have a feeling our hopes may ultimately lie in Bibledit's SFM to OSIS
conversion potential.
