Ooops!!  Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.  I never read the 
preface.  I have the original module of Calvin's commentary as part of 
my Sword installation, and it was simply that each of the passages I 
spotted while using it matched the Vulgate exactly.  You are right of 
course.  Sorry.

I was brought up as a Roman Catholic with two wonderful things.  One was 
a knowledge of parts of the Vulgate, especially the Psalms and John's 
gospel, and the other was the certain knowledge that Calvin was a 
heretic.  I have mixed feelings about the second thing these days.  I 
believe Calvin was totally in error about things concerning hell, the 
'great white throne' etc. but he was (maybe) right about some other 
aspects of our faith ....  still, I'm off topic here.  Please accept my 
apology.
