Actually, historically there has been a lot of discussion on this list about how Bible software should be done and distributed. There are those here that, like you, focus more on verses that support, "Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice," while others focus more on verses that support the idea, "freely ye have received, freely give." I believe both will be rewarded for their faithfulness to the leading of the Holy Spirit. This project however must have a long term direction and can't be all things to all people. There were already proprietary Bible software projects. There have been some bad experience with some proprietary Bible software developers. A number of people have had some bad experience with PD efforts. That does not mean that all proprietary or PD developers are doing something wrong, but it does build support for something like a GPL based project. So, here it is for those that support the "free software" concept. Those that don't are free to work with those that are doing otherwise. It isn't us against them it is just different approaches to how to best serve.
