To be honest, I'm not sure what purpose registering a copyright has (other than helping to fund the Copyright Office :).
It gives them a stronger hand if they ever go after someone in court. They could wait and register later but could end up with a smaller club to hit infringers with.
Larry is up in Canada, but did register at least that one work in the US.
I don't think that means it could not also be registered in other countries.
And, in any case, we only need concern ourselves with US law since that's where CrossWire is physically and we've probably got the most draconian copyright laws here anyway.
Maybe. It is hard but not impossible to have a judgement against you from a country you have no presence in.
.. they're (for the most part) sweat-of-the-brow stuff that has been explicitly disallowed as a basis for copyright.
I think we will see laws preventing the extraction of (but not the remaking of) sweat-of-the-brow stuff for purposes that damage a market for the work that contains the stuff. I believe some other countries already have laws of this sort.
