I'm going to spend some time today looking through your ZIP and trying to integrate it with the rest of the library.

Troy,
I am not sure if 4.0 will compile it, but I recon it probably will. I looked into it why I did download 3.0 in the first place. The only thing that I can come up with now is that maybe 4.0 only works with windows CE 2003. (I have 2002). Version 3.0 is still available if you use the following link:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/resources/downloads/developer/def ault.mspx
I found the following on the microsoft website:
Q: Can I use eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0 to develop applications for Pocket
PC or Smartphone?
A: eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0 with Service Pack 2 can be used to develop
applications for the Pocket PC 2003 and Smartphone 2003. It can not be
used to develop applications for Pocket PC 2002 or Smartphone 2002.
So, since most devices still use windows CE 2002 (including the one I just bought new) and because windows CE 2003 is backwards compatible with 2002, I think we should keep developping in 3.0.
There are some disadvantages though: - 3.0 does not support try...catch statements - 3.0 does not come with the STL
Luckily, try...catch statements do not perform vital functions in sword. I also found a (free) STL that compiles with eVC 3.0 (it is included in the files).

Johan

Johan,
I went to that link you posted and it says it is no longer
available. I did a search for 'evc' on their download site and they have 4.0 available apparently, along with many patches already. Do you think 4.0
will compile your stuff? It says alot about .net on there.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say so, you can download 'embedded visual c++ 3.0' for free from microsoft. If you install this program you can open
the workspace file that is included in the 'Interface1' directory. Now
you will have the right settings and all to compile.
I hope this helps,

Johan

Johan, I'm hoping to get your CE stuff in the current CVS head soon.
Does MS
have a free CE compiler available for download, like they used to
have?
Do I need any special addins to compile stuff? Thank you again for your time!
In addition to the sourceforge suggestion, know that you are
always
welcome to any combination of CVS/FTP/HTTP/Listserv services at CrossWire if you are interested in leading a CE frontend.
I'm really excited to see this move ahead. We've had a few individuals on the list who have done work toward this goal, and I'm hoping they will be encouraged enough to desire to help again now that
this big step
forward has been made.
In His Grace, -Troy.

Hello Joachim,
I'm not sure if a diff output would be very handy. For the src and
include directories that would work, but I also added some files to make windows CE more 'unix' compatible. (in the apps/wince directory).
I zipped all my files and tried to configure them to be easily put
back into CVS. Of course I cannot do this myself. If you download the following file, you can unzip it and cvs from the swordCVE directory. Here you should easily see the changes I made and the files I added.
http://ozy.student.utwente.nl/~drsoong/IpaqProgs.zip
If you unzip this file on windows in a c:\IpaqProgs directory, you should be able to compile the dll (and the interface) yourself.
What I meant with the last question is how to share the modified files
so anyone could compile the dll. Well, now he can download the file above, or check out from CVS after it has been inserted.
The current application I had in mind as a frontend is just a simple
bible reader. As soon as I have a functioning version I might make a SF project out of it, or leave this up to you-guys.
Well, I hope the windows ce port will be useful and if there are questions regarding the sources, do not hesitate to ask.
In Him,
Johan

Hi, these are great news! Windows CE is one of the plattforms many users want to Sword on. Great you got it working!
I had to make some small changes to some of the sword-files, but nothing that should cause problems with other platforms.
I'd suggest to share the edited code sections with us on the list so we can put it into CVS so it's in the next official Sword release. If possible send it as output of the diff command, but I gues that's
not
possible on Windows. In this case just post what sections you changed to what code.
So, how can I share the files I created, so any developper can use them in windows CE applications?
Do you mean the code files to work on the CE program? Or something
else? If you want to work on a CE frontend using SourceForge (sf.net) is a good solution. Others may joing this way to help you, too.
Thank you for your great efforts!
