You can turn binary Sword modules into text using the mod2imp tool. For win32 it should be at ftp.crosswire.org/pub/sword/util/win32/. For Linux it's in the utilities subdirectory of the Source tree.
It works for all types of modules, even compressed ones.

Does it convert to plain text or to its original form (if marked up) text?
I'll have to take a look at it tomorrow when I'm at work. It's the only Windows machine to which I have access.

I've tried Diaspora on WindowsXP but it kept crashing. I hadn't yet explored whether it was me or the program. :)
