I have my concordance system setup so that it has 4 different and sortable levels at which verses can be stored (Topic, and 3 Sub Topic levels). I would like to be able to interface the final level of display so that it could print something such as:
Spiritual Gifts : Gifts
Knowledge
1 Corinthians 12:8 (displayed)
Mercy
Romans 12:8 (displayed)
etc
Hopefully this could provide a help to my dilemma, I have the (website) pages that display this information written is Visual Basic ASP. Things are controlled through a database from the ASP pages. I am trying to figure out a way to interface (from within) to the diatheke engine, I currently have it setup so that only 1 verse displays at a time from a page showing the verses in a given sub-topic. I know that there is a Visual Basic diatheke interface (I think in a dll file), I was wondering where would documentation on this tool be found at? Also I was wondering, of course if anyone has any specific suggestions of how to try this? The reason I ask if, and where the documentation on the VB diatheke thing is located at, is because I was thinking it might be necessary to interface to this rather than using the "diatheke.pl" file I am using now. One reason for desiring this is because I would like to control which translation, and which options for display are used from the ASP pages.
How would I display a single (or possibly a few) verses in Visual Basic? I have all of my verse listings separated by Book name, Chapter and Verse in separate variables so they can be manipulated.
I will appreciate any and all help or suggestions I can receive. I know this is a huge project considering what my dreams for it are, but with the help of God and those who might have knowledge, I have faith that in time, this project can be accomplished.
As always the concordance project can be fount at: http://dana.ucc.nau.edu/dpa3-cgi-bin/redirect.pl?religion/V_Topic.asp?ST=1 I have the link pointing through a server at NAU, my college, because I currently do not have an IP # that remains the same, but this works for now at least.
