Hi there!
I would like to get your feedback about some recordings I did lately.
Under the link
https://ln5.sync.com/dl/cf9da9130/mu8gu8wv-6d2ngsjx-d2tgvrap-uhyzapmf
you can download the recordings, if you like.
The car is a refurbished 52er Chevi with an audible V8 engine!
PLEASE BE CAREFUL! In the beginning the sound is very low, as my
friendly neighbour lives some yards away.
As the car comes closer, you will HEAR the engine. Promised! ;-)
I recorded the VERY SAME drive-by with three different systems at the
same time: (unfortunately no time-code (not yet available here!))
Double M/S with four cardioids (AKG P 170) (Schoeps' Double M/S
plugin) (recorded on Zoom F8n)
Double M/S with two cardioids and a figure of eight (AKG SE 300 B with
CK 91 and CK 94) (Schoeps' Double M/S plugin) (recorded on Zoom F8n)
H3 VR - AmbiX -> binaural with the IEM Plugin
I have to say, that I am quite impressed by the sound of the four
cardioid Double M/S. Especially, as these are not the best microphones
available. But I don't have more than three AKG C 391, so ...
There is no EQ, no dynamics, no nothing, except the plugins as mentioned
above.
The idea of the four cardioids as Double M/S I found here:
https://www.dpamicrophones.com/mic-university/immersive-sound-object-based-audio-and-microphones
- Chapter "Double MS".
Although I can't afford neither 4011A nor 4011Cs, I think the results
are quite good - my impression.
I would love to have your feedback and please be frankly and open.
Complements are nice, but honest feedback will bring me ahead. :-)
Take care and stay healthy
Cheers
Thorsten
P.S.: There are some other recordings available. I am running low on
diskspace, so I added them here to share it with a friend. Have a
listen, too. If you like. The "ORTF-3D" is my setup following the
description of Helmut Wittek's AES presentation "Development and
application of a stereophonic multichannel recording technique for 3D
Audio and VR" - slides 33 ff.
https://www.hauptmikrofon.de/HW/Wittek_AES_NY_ORTF3D_10_2017.pdf
Before you ask: I don't have any Schoeps! This experiment was done with
eight very affordable supercardioid micorphones I borrowed from my
friend. (YES! They are noisy!)
