Hi Chris, The 3D printing does have several advantages from a design point of view. I can make structures that would be impossible with traditional methods. I nickel coat the nylon SLS parts with very good shielding results. The nylon also doesn’t get as ‘cold’ as metal bodied mics so that and IP67 waterproof LEMO connectors makes them very good for outdoor use.
For windshields I have custom made Rycote BBGs that sit the array at the centre of the windshield. I have some demo mics available if you want to try one out.
