Dear Sursounders,
In the Audio research line in Barcelona Media [1] we are in conditions
of hosting an applicant to the TECNIOspring Programme (incoming
fellowship) [2], a two-year postdoctoral fellowship programme from the
Catalan Government co-financed by the European Union through a Marie
Cure action.
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to develop an applied
research project in the field of spatial audio. We are particularly
interested in developing new innovative close-to-market applications of
Ambisonics and related technologies for real-time events. However we
would also consider applications in other research topics within the
fields of interest of the group, in particular parametric arrays [1].
The ideal candidate should have:
* PhD in Audio, Acoustics, Signal Processing, Physics, Engineering or
similar.
* Experience in applied research in spatial audio or related subjects.
* Extensive knowledge of real-time audio programming environments such
as Pure Data, Max/MSP or Supercollider.
* Solid programming skills in Python and Octave/Matlab.
* Programming skills in C++, Java, Javascript.
* Familiarity with FOSS audio processing frameworks.
* Solid mathematical background.
* Willing to work in a multidisciplinary applied research group.
The following points will be considered an asset:
* Experience with DJ software (Ableton Live, Traktor, etc)
* Experience with DAWs (Logic Pro, Protools, Cubase, Ardour, Reaper, etc),
* Knowledge in plugin creation (VST, LADSPA, AAX)
* Musical and artistic training
* Hardware prototyping (e.g. Arduino) and electronics design.
* Experience with ultrasounds in general and parametric arrays in
particular.
Additionally, to be elegible in the TECHNIOSPRING program (incoming
felloship), candidates must:
* Hold a doctoral degree and four additional years of full-time research
experience after obtaining it; or have at least eight years of full-time
equivalent research experience,including the period of research
training, after obtaining the degree which would formally entitle them
to embark on a doctorate;
* Have at least one year of experience in applied research and/or
technology transfer activities (R&D projects involving companies,
patents licensing or spin offs); and
* Have experience in the management of research groups.
* Mobility criteria: the researcher must not have resided or carried out
her/his mainactivity (work, studies) in Spain for more than 12 months in
the 2 years immediately priorto the deadline for the submission of
applications. As an exception, only for properly detailed and justified
career breaks, experienced researchers will be eligible if they have not
resided or carried out their main activity inSpain for more than 3 years
in the 5 years immediately prior to the deadline for submission of
proposals.
See [2] for further information on the TECHNIOspring programme.
