For those of you looking to  hardware solution for multispeaker decoding,
you might want to look at the latest offering form Analog Devices, (
http://www.analog.com/en/audiovideo-products/audio-signal-processors/adau1452/products/product.html)
which can drive 48-channels of 32-bit digital I/O up to a sample rate of
192 kHz - and ii's less than $20 !!
