Hello David,

I insert foam earplugs tightly into my ears for 8 to 12 hours for about 4 days
in a row when at work and find this re-sensitises my ears quite nicely for
listening to my Ambisonic system and for picking out weak narrow band speech
(SSB) from the white noise and other interference when listening to very weak
signals on the amateur radio bands. The effects seem to last for days. May
not work for everyone but it works for me.

Alan

Subject: [Sursound] OT: ear freshening

Hi all,
In conducting extended listening tests involving the comparison of different
odecs, it can be demonstrated that fatigue, due to the duration of the tests,
ffects the results.
he same effect can be observed by all of us who spend extended periods of time
n concentrated audio listening.
I often combat this effect do some 'ear-freshening' in the form of playing slow
ttack pink noise for +/- 10-sec. It seems to 'clear the ears' faster than
ilence.
I have not found any empirical testing of this phenomena, so I am wondering if
ther people do this, or something similar?
I've be interested to hear if you do, or if you have some other strategy to
eawaken/refresh your palling ears?
David
