A google search several months ago brought me to JHRoy's Zoom H2 Modification--several years old, and now obsolete. But I did it anyway--even though my H6 is just days away in the mail. It was a royal pain in the a**, but I had fun with the microsurgery. I may have misinterpreted jhroy's notes, however. Using this photo of the PCB http://www.ambisonia.com/Members/jhRoy/zoom-h2-modification/atct_album_image?b_start=13 I cut the traces between one end of each of the four resistors and patched in line-ins with DPDT switches and 3.5" stereo jacks mounted in the windscreen. It looks great, but both switch positions give me the four onboard mics. Question to anyone who remembers this piece of equipment--where are the inputs to the A/D convertors--or where is a logical point between the mic preamps and the A/D convertors that would function as a line in? I've made all the mechanical changes necessary, so splicing into the PCB at a different point will not be such a hassle. If that fails, I'll go ahead and pad the mic ins with resistors, add a DC blocking capacitor as others have done after looking at the tiny SMDs and traces. I am fortunate enough to have a stereoscopic microscope on hand, so it was actually fun to do the modification. But, where can I inject a line signal? Anybody got a schematic? Thanks very much in advance for any tips or URLs that might help me.
