Here's my good and bad impressions: - Six channels is good (simultaneous stereo and Ambisonics recording) - Cheap and good enough (but then, what's "good enough"?) - No EQ at the inputs is good (to be verified) (the capsules on the H2 are slightly EQed, and the EQs are hard wired) - Only two channels for the interchangeable microphones? (then no possibility for a FOA interchangeable microphone) - Portable but a bit messy, with two pairs of inputs on each side That's not so bad for an upcoming product...
We don't know if it's yet another "good enough" product from Zoom, but after 3 years with a Zoom H2 I got a Yamaha C24, because it's better, much smaller, and in the same price range. What I'd like is a recording device as small as possible, with 4 channels, a minimalistic display and a minimal amount of buttons (only on/off, record, play, and stop). Something hackable. Maybe it already exist in the form of a plugin device for phones or a small recording USB module (with 4 channels).
