Hi all

On thinking about virtual microphone responses for higher order ambisonics: I
can see very easily how to formulate a set of super-cardioid responses for
creating 2D recordings, but not so easily for 3D.

Does anyone know if there is such a thing as HOA A-format? i.e For an m-th
order system, can one formulate a set of m^2 directional microphone responses
(identically shaped but pointing in different directions) that could then be
transformed back and forth to m-th order B-format? At the moment, I can't see
how that would work unless the responses were not all the same shape.

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Best wishes
Tim
