That is absolutely true. We are very apt at dealing with
'very early reflections' for example. Remember the last
time you were standing close to a hard reflecting wall ?
Did it impair your ability to localise sound sources, or 
cause any comb filter effects ? According to all 'simple'
theories it should. Same for e.g. floor reflections which
you'll find in any concert hall and sound studio.
