You have been lucky ! This is really an example of a
bit too little security. But you can overdo it as well.
Shortly after I moved to Parma there was an Italian
AES meeting at the Casa della Musica. Angelo wanted
to show off Ambisonics so we set up a double ring of
eight. The stands were quite stable, the speakers not
really heavy and firmly fixed to the stands. But when
the director of the CdM discovered what we were going
to do she demanded that each of the stands should be
guarded by a Parma virgin.
In the end the girls didn't show up, but nothing fell
down and nobody got (nearly) killed.
