Large images inline make text too small

When I have images inline in e-mail and select 
"Resize large images to fit in the browser window" 
(Appearance/Content/Zoom options), very large 
images causes the size of the text to be too small.

How can I cause the large images to fit within the 
window without the size of the text being reduced?
