https://www.seamonkey-project.org/doc/2.0/system-requirements lists these:

     GTK+ 3.4 or higher

libgtk-3-0, version 3.22.30 on my Ubuntu 18.04.1.

     GLib 2.22 or higher

libglib2.0-0, version 2.56.3

     Pango 1.14 or higher

libpango-1.0-0, version 1.40.14

     X.Org 1.0 or higher (Recommended: 1.7 or higher)

xserver-xorg, version 1:7.7+19ubuntu7
xserver-xorg-core, 2:1.19.6-1ubuntu

     libstdc++ 4.6.1 or higher

libstdc++6, version 8.2.0
libstdc++7-dev, version 7.3.0-27

     NetworkManager 0.7 or higher

network-manager 1.10.6-2

     DBus 1.0 or higher

dbus 1.12.2-1

     GNOME 2.16 or higher

gnome 3.28.3-0

Can someone translate the above names into the actual package names used by the
most popular distros?

A search of my Synaptic Package Manager returns the above results.

Current problem on bionic:
XPCOMGLueLoad error for file ...libxpcom.so
couldn't load XPCOM

Google is not giving up useful responses, same as almost every time I install a
new distro instead
of just upgrading. :-(

Are you trying to run a 32-bit SeaMonkey on a 64-bit operating system?

Try the 64-bit contributed build found near the bottom of this page.

<http://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/#2.49.4>

I have no problems running it on Ubuntu 18.04.1, or Linux Mint 19.1.
