All the icons which were previously arranged in a horizontal row across the bottom of the screen are now, suddenly and unexpectedly, arranged in a vertical row along the right hand side of the screen.
I sounds like you might be describing Windows' taskbar (with the "Start" button on the left, followed by icons for each application, and a clock on the right), rather than anything related to SeaMonkey?
Can anyone tell me how this happened? And, what I can do to put the format of the screen back to normal (i.e. what I expect)?
Assuming my guess is correct, that usually happens by accidentally dragging it from one edge of the screen to another. To move it back, click in an empty space on the (now vertical) bar, and drag it back to the bottom of the screen. If I recall correctly, you can right-click an empty space on the bar and select "lock taskbar" (or something like that) to prevent it from being accidentally reconfigured in future.
