I believe we are looking at the final days of SeaMonkey.
YouTube has not worked in several months without switching to the Old
Version of YT. Once they force the switch on you, I won't be able to
load YT without it freezing and locking up when using scripts.
Sorry you're having trouble, but I haven't noticed it at all. YouTube
performs just as well for me as it always has. I haven't tweaked it or
made any special accommodations. It just runs. The same goes for my
other video sources, the main exceptions being nhl.com and mlb.com,
which seem purposely designed to be incompatible with AdBlock Plus. ;-)
But even mlb.com is marginally tolerable if I disable ABP and mute the
ads. I do so hate that damn gecko!
I haven't tried uninstalling Flash, Shockwave, and VLC player, so maybe
that matters.
And Yahoo Mail no longer works now that they've forced you to the newer
version of their mail system. I tried to download and install the
extension User Agent Switcher, and guess what? SeaMonkey is not
compatible with the current version of that.. no surprise.
Here, too, I don't share your experience. Of course I've always hated
webmails, so if there's a problem outside of POP3/IMAP/SMTP I wouldn't
know about it. Two or three times a year I go into Gmail for a few
minutes to tweak a setting or double-check the spam folder, but that's
pretty much it; the rest of the time I send/receive Gmail through
SMTP/POP3 like the rest of my accounts.
I'm guessing this browser will go out the same way the Mozilla Browser
did.. and that sucks, because I've used Mozilla and SeaMonkey for most
of my history on the internet.
I really wish people wouldn't extrapolate from their own individual
experience to the thousands of users out there in cyberspace. A sample
size of one is nearly meaningless in global terms even if it is the most
important one to you.
