If you're fine with remote content, including web beacons and the like,
just clear the pref and allow all images:
Edit | Preferences | Mail & Newsgroups | Message Display
[ ] Block images and other content from remote sources

If you're not happy with Big Brother updating your dossier every time
you open an email, keep on editing permissions piecemeal.
