I have recently upgraded to SeaMonkey 2.39
From which original version did you upgrade?
when I go to my profile to read news groups (this one)
set to get new messages on start up only
Does it connect to the server without issue?
none show up, I have to select each group to get an update
does anyone have any ideas

While it is a release candidate version, try giving 2.41 a shot.
