Windows 7 Professional. Use Internet Explorer to view profile folder and file Attributes of parent.lock. Attributes set to AI.

Run SeaMonkey.  Check file Attributes.  No change.

Try same thing with Word. Open a file with Word. Drag and drop same file into Excel. Excel informs you that the file is locked by another program and can only be opened in Read-only mode. File attributes not changed.
