David is using Thunderbird which doesn't have a web browser
component, therefore it won't open about:config in any browser by
just clicking on it.

Tested that myself.

I see nothing above your statement that suggests that help for
Thunderbird is being requested in a SeaMonkey forum. As well, it's
worth noting that prior to 2.19, about:config wasn't a clickable link
in SeaMonkey, either. That's a new feature of the suite.

I think you're mistaken. AFAIK about:config has been a clickable link for years, although there are plenty of complaints on the web from Thunderbird users that it's not. In Mozilla products generally, "about" is an internal protocol that's recognized just like "mailto" and "http."
