Below is a sample message, assuming the characters make it to the list.

2014 – Get the ‘Best Guide’

TY
Ray

Upgrade to 2.19!
I have just updated one of my machines to 2.19 and the bug has been
fixed.

Between my first and second message I changed to;
User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:22.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/22.0 SeaMonkey/2.19

No change in the displayed characters.

And selecting UTF-8 only effected the displayed message, not the next
messages with similar coding.

It sounds like you're asking for SeaMonkey to recognize when the sender has lied about the encoding and guess the correct one.

Most of the time the sender doesnot lie ..... It's the fault of his mail client.
