This particular server does not check or care about the address you supply.
You could supply "Glorious Leader <[email protected]>" and it
would work, although maybe your posts would be censored in a country
bordering on China, Russia and South Korea. Hell, S Korea would
probably censor them as well.

Of course it is too late for that for you.
Does ashevillecommunity.org allow aliases? One of my ISPs allows 5 per
email address and has (after some takovers and mergers) multiple domains
as well. This allows me to set up an address such as
[email protected], and then have aliases such as
[email protected], [email protected] and so on.

If you can do that then you can still keep your existing address as an
alias for a while and then dump it once everyone knows about the new one.
My "Yahoo Groups" alias started attracting spam recently. I created a
new alias, dumped the old one and told Yahoo to communicate with the new
one. Totally painless.

You start off sounding like you get it, but then you completely miss the point.

Hawker doesn't need a valid email address to post here. Lots of us munge our addresses or make up entirely imaginary, invalid ones, and we can still post and read others' posts. It's very easy to do: just create a new mail account in your current profile, with all the valid settings you need to send mail with your current SMTP host, but instead of a valid email address put something else. Then whenever you post here, just send from that identity instead of a valid one. You can also point it to a different sig, or none at all, if you like.

It won't work if you want to read/post via the digest/mailing list format, but it's fine if you use the newsgroup feature.

As for changing his poisoned address, there are lots of options there, too, the key being to notify only authorized correspondents of the new one. He shouldn't tell us. ;-)
