I just want to know what's in the Profile of a clean install of 2.6.1.
The Migration scrip seems like it's left a few now useless items in the
Profile - like the old .html Bookmarks file.
This should cover it: <http://seamonkey.ilias.ca/profilefaq/>
Thanks lots. Very helpful - just the info I was looking for. The links
I was finding kept pointing me at older documentation.
Also - what's with these new "smart" folders in the Bookmarks Menu?
Which I don't want, and can and have deleted. But how can I create one
that I might want?
Smart bookmarks folders are saved searches of your bookmarks and history
that appear as folders in your bookmarks. For instance, you can create a
folder that lists all bookmarks you visited the day before; and it is
updated automatically.
To create a new Smart Folder based on your bookmarks:
1. Click on the |Bookmarks| menu and select |Organize Bookmarks|. The
Bookmarks Manager window will open.
2. In the upper-right corner, click in the "Search Bookmarks" box.
3. Start typing a in the Search Bookmarks box. Bookmarks with a title,
web address (URL), or tag that match your search will be listed. [1]
4. Underneath the Search Bookmarks box, click [Save]. The Save Search
dialog box will appear.
5. Enter a name for the new Smart Folder and click [OK].
[1] You can narrow your search to a single Bookmarks folder by clicking
on a bookmarks folder in the left half of the Window, and then typing in
your search term.
That could be handy. If I do an Export on such, how would those show
up? I've noticed that on Export it relabels the former Personal Toolbar
folder and if I do an Import or drag/drop into an older SM version
Profile I loose the Personal Toolbar setup...but I can work around that.
In fact I may even find it desirable over time.
And what's the "Unsorted Bookmarks" thing, and how can I delete that?
Unsorted bookmarks is where bookmarks go when you use the one-click
bookmarking feature. When you're at a page you want to bookmark, just
click on the bookmark icon inside the right of the location bar.
As far as I know, the Unsorted Bookmarks folder is not removable.
Ok...I think from my migration I have a few hangouts that would/should
have gone into the "Unsorted" folder, now that I know what it is. I
think I can work around that, too.
Thanks again.
