I'm hearing drum's beating to move to this 'github' which, not being a
computer-geek, is not really of interest to Yours' Truly, but I am seeing
why. As I help spread the good word of Stellarium on a few astro-forums -
and helping people find their way and answer questions - I have noted
recently that often the links send one to an 'ERROR' page. Or tell me my
computer is messed-up. So I've taken to writing disclaimers into my
Stellarium links' pages & introductions - should SourceForge be acting up
(again). Telling folks to keep trying. It will work after awhile. A day or
two ago was the worst 'crash & burn' I've yet encountered. Lasted all day
and into the night.

What I'd ask is what SourceForge has to say about this themselves?
Technical issues? Not enough bandwidth to handle the volume of 'hits'
perhaps? If SF is aware of this situation(s) and actively working on a fix,
then I wouldn't care where Stellarium (and other great software) is coming
out through. But if they are noncommttal or mute then a move is likely the
only sane course. One thing concerns me greatly regards a move:

One thing people who chat about Stellarium and other astronomy
software-programs (like myself) often touch on about SourceForge is the
lack of spam and malware piggybacking in along with the desired program.
SourceForge gets the highest marks for this safety & security of their
downloads. It's a nightmare to recommend software to some newcomer to the
world of astronomy and it's interface with computers and link them to
somethings that hijacks their browser, trips their anti-virus protection,
or othwise is a Royal PITA!

So I hope that any site Stellarium is available through can maintain this
high degree of safety and security that SourceForge has demonstrated to
it's users.

Carry on the great work, people - Stellarium is a fantastic program and has
brought great accolades from those who use it!
