Hi!

Start with src/modules/GridLinesMgr.(hpp|cpp). When you understand how it works, it should be moderately easy to make e.g. a variant of ecliptic of date starting at Spica. You should however not touch precession code, unless you need to implement a particular Indian model. But then you need different models for everything!

Out of cultural astronomy interest: Do you have some english-language papers on this coordinate system? Is there a single "Indian" tradition, or are there several different "schools"? Maybe this tradition could be added in the description of the "Indian" skyculture. However, the main program cannot show this. Maybe a future "Cultures" plugin?

Good luck!

Georg

Hello. I'm a student/researcher of traditional Indian astronomy where
the longitudes of bodies are given w.r.t. a zero point diametrically
opposite Spica i.e. so that the longitude of Spica is fixed at 180°.

I would like to use Stellarium to illustrate the movement of the
planets with this grid of reference displayed as an alternate to the
ecliptic of date. I realize I will have to tweak the precession code
for this (IIUC).

Please guide as to where in the code I should dig to find this. I have
downloaded the 0.16.1 tarball.

Thank you!
