Hi all,

I would like apply for the SOCIS project. I am a physics PhD student in
Germany with profound knowledge of C++ and many years of experience in
working in large projects. My master thesis was a computing task
centered around a speed optimization of existing scientific code by
bottleneck finding and algorithm alternations. In this context I have
also gained experience in SIMD programming.

In a short discussion last year here on the list (subject: "using INPOP
and JPL ephemeris") I wanted to provide some groundwork for the JPL
calculations of the DE43x challenge based on a program for ephemeris
calculations I wrote some time back. The DE43x challenge was however
already assigned.

I have already identified the relevant portions in the code for the
planetary position calculation and the current trunk is compiled and
running on my system and I would just need a "go" to start.

Greetings,
Theodor
