Hello all! Some time ago I have a bit discussion with Georg about colors of hints for the deep-sky objects. A couple week ago I refactored the DSO feature and Stellarium under public testing new DSO at the moment.
I agree with Georg's proposal and I want discussion for default colors of the DSO hints. A first point: early Georg added support of the different colors for some types of deep-sky objects (for an old types) and I extend this list of possible customizable colors but... not for all types. I proposed 2 ideas for this point: a) extend list of customizable DSO colors for all types of objects; b) rename configuration options for those colors and make it more readable for humans (a long names of "variables"?). Comments and critique? A second point: the current color scheme of DSO hints is based on old Stellarium colors for nebulae and on classic colors for the printed star atlases. In any case the current scheme is a little messy because here both schemes has been mixed and number types of the objects is more than in atlases. Georg proposed using photometric colors for hints (BVRI and narrowband filters like OIII, H-alpha, SII). I think it has a some meaning for coloring of markers. Comments and critique? P.S. I'll begin discussion of those topics on the cloudynights.com, http://stargazerslounge.com and astronomyforum.net forums with the astronomy amateurs also. -- With best regards, Alexander
